Forty exhausted steel quills, four shades of shimmering silver, and a life lost in the depths of the earth. Alexander’s Collection presents an exclusive preview of a masterpiece that blurs the line between fine art and high fashion—a silver thread artwork meticulously embroidered on a foundation of legendary Rubelli textile.
The Alchemy of Metal: Avant-Garde Silver Thread Artwork
In the world of ultra-luxury, the boundaries between Fine Art and High Fashion are blurring. Alexander’s Collection presents a world-first preview of a masterpiece that redefines the concept of a wall-piece: "Flight to Eternity." This is not a traditional tapestry; it is a meticulous silver thread artwork on luxury textile, a jewel of architectural proportions.

The Artist’s Obsession: 40 Quills and a Magnifying Glass

Precursor to the silver-threaded textile masterpiece
The foundation of this work is a graphic feat of human patience. Roman Afonin (1975–2003) created the original sketch using microscopic techniques that defy standard reproduction. Working under a magnifying glass with the finest steel quills and black ink, the artist exhausted 40 steel quills, literally wearing them down to the nub against the paper to achieve his signature depth. Every dot in this "micro-universe" carries a philosophical weight, capturing the duality of existence.

Master artisans utilize four variations of silver thread to achieve the exquisite detail and tonal range of the foundational graphic artwork.
The Medium: Rubelli Textile and Natural Pearls
To honor Afonin’s microscopic ink-work, Alexander’s Collection performed a technical breakthrough.
The Canvas: The embroidery is executed on specialized luxury textile from the world-renowned Italian house, Rubelli.
The Luminescence: The organic iridescence of hand-placed natural pearls, juxtaposed against the sharp brilliance of metallic threads, creates a multidimensional glow. As light dances across the silver surface, the figures seem to break free from the fabric, overcoming the gravity of the material world.

The Philosophy: Love as the Only Constant
"Flight to Eternity" is a breathtaking visual essay on the enduring nature of human connection. The composition captures the masculine and feminine essence as an inseparable duality, intertwined in a singular, dynamic gesture of ascent. The narrative suggests that humanity, like butterflies, is drawn toward the ephemeral light of life. Yet, while life is a singular moment, the artwork asserts that only love remains eternal, carrying the soul into infinity.
The Tragic Heritage: A Legacy Sealed: The Future of Collectible Silver Thread Art
Roman Afonin’s life was defined by a search for beauty in the most inaccessible places. A passionate professional speleologist, he perished at the height of his creative powers in a catastrophic cave collapse. "Flight to Eternity" remains as his spiritual testament—a metaphor for his own fate and his soul's longing for light.
Due to the artist’s tragic passing, this is the first, last, and only work ever commissioned by Alexander’s Collection from Roman Afonin. The series is now officially closed. This "Limited Edition of One," currently being brought to life in our Hong Kong workshop, is a fragment of history that can never be repeated.
“In a world of digital replication, Alexander’s Collection seeks the opposite: the unrepeatable. Whether it is the 10,000 shades of a silk masterpiece or the silver-threaded soul of a lost graphic visionary, we do not just create decor. We preserve the fading heartbeat of human genius, turning moments of obsession into monuments of silk and silver.”
— Alexander, Founder of Alexander’s Collection
Discover the Origin
"Flight to Eternity" is far more than a triumph of textile engineering; it is the physical manifestation of a profound creative sacrifice. Beyond the shimmer of four distinct silver textures and the lustre of natural pearls lies a narrative that redefined the very soul of Alexander’s Collection. To truly grasp the gravity of this masterpiece, one must look back to its origins—to the five relentless months spent under a magnifier, the forty exhausted steel quills, and the hauntingly prophetic final words of the artist himself.
