"Scythian" is a definitive statement piece of contemporary wall art—a rare collaboration with Academician Michael Verkholantsev, one of the world’s foremost masters of Mannerist imagery. This artwork is a dominant, high-value acquisition for the curated interior, bridging 2,500 years of history with avant-garde couture techniques.

The Artist: A Global Legacy
Michael Verkholantsev is a living master whose works are enshrined in the world’s most prestigious institutions. To own a Verkholantsev collaboration is to own a piece of art history. His works are held in the permanent collections of:
The State Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg)
The Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam)
The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow)
The State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow)
The Ateneum Museum (Helsinki)
National Galleries & Museums in London, Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Munich, and Bratislava.

The Artistry: Mannerism Meets Pop Art
In "Scythian," Verkholantsev presents a contemporary representation of the ancient nomadic soul. Rendered in a striking, grotesque style reminiscent of Pop Art, the image of the Scythian deity looks through the ages, symbolizing the fierce elegance of a culture that fused Asian and Greek design. The work is a masterclass in Mannerism, characterized by sophisticated composition and emotional intensity.

The Craftsmanship: Couture Silk & Ancient Lacquer
This piece is executed using a mixed media technique that elevates textile to the level of Haute Couture:
Fine Silk & Golden Threads: Thousands of intersecting lines of hand-embroidered silk and gold thread create a shimmering, three-dimensional texture that reacts to light, symbolizing the historical link between nations.

The Ancient Lacquer Frame: The artwork is encased in a bespoke frame utilizing a nearly forgotten technique invented in China 2,000 years ago. Natural carbon is applied in twenty layers over ebony wood, hand-polished to a glass-like, "liquid obsidian" finish. This labor-intensive process transforms the frame into an integral part of the artwork.
