Good & Evil Fighting

Alexander's Collection is not just another art gallery, it is the gallery of haute couture art. Its display are above the conventional concept of contemporary art and the gallery challenges with their novelty in the approach of creating masterpieces.

We do not seek to make art for everyone, but only for a select few, as art has historically been. Elite in art has preserved the great names in art. We have chosen just a very few artists who best meet our vision of the ultimate ideal of beauty and artistic execution.

Working together for many years, we create unique pieces that decorate interiors around the world. High art should be elitist, it should be possessed by the chosen few. We do not share the contemporary approach to art.  To create the works we present, you need to have great talent.

Some of our artists are world renowned. However, we choose only the geniuses. They cannot be many, each of them is unique. We are often blamed for being an art centre for billionaires. That's partly true, with one correction. We create art for the chosen few.

In parallel to paintings from our private collection, we have been collecting for almost 20 years, the gallery presents the so-called silk painting. This is a completely new word and direction in art, when the artist's sketch is translated into embroidery with the finest silk threads, conveying the smallest details of the artist's drawing.

Signature Design and Collaborations
Bernardaud, France
Bernardaud Plate, a French manufacturer in collaboration with Alexander's Collection. Fine Bone China, 22K Gold plated, Hand Engraving

The world-famous Alexander's Collection design was originally created as a sketch for a carpet by Alexander Anisimov, the brand's chief designer and artist. Then, based on this design, a limited edition collection for the production of marble mosaics was created. By order of Alexander's Collection, the French manufacture Bernardaud made a single copy of a decorative plate using this design.

The history of the design traces back to the Romanov imperial family. Empress Maria, wife of Emperor Paul I, who was renowned for her impeccable taste, collected the finest works of art for her palace while travelling in Europe. Returning home, she first appeared at a ball in a ball dress, decorated with a small bunch of half flowers, instead of the usual diamond brooch. The whole court decided that this was a new fashion, brought by her from Europe, and the courtiers rushed after their empress, inventing the most incredible combinations of wild flowers to decorate ball dresses. The Empress's favourite colours were lilies of the valley.

The designer of the Alexander's Collection brand creates his own unique design in the form of a glade of lilies of the valley, where the flowers are gathered in the form of an open fan.

The second copy of the decorative plate using this design was handmade at the porcelain factory in St. Petersburg.
Masters of painting on porcelain from the famous Hermitage Museum executed this work by order of Alexander's Collection.

Marble Mosaic
Alexander's Collection famous marble mosaic - Lilies of the Valley

Mosaic works are a special focus of the Alexander's Collection label. However, the couture trend, which could rival such a concept as art, is a niche for designing. To make works of such a class you need masters, and today they are increasingly few and far between.

The brand mainly makes marble mosaics. Marble mosaic panels are a very painstaking and time consuming process.

We only offer to the market works that most of the factories simply are not able to do or the cost of those jobs becomes astronomical. We carry out the work in a factory in Asia, where unique crafts and the last top class craftsmen still remain, able to match the color of the stone to a design printed on paper.

In addition to the artisans' work, mosaic is a high level design that requires special talent for its creation. It's not just about finding ideas, but also about artistically laying out the pattern, breaking it down into color zones. And this must be done so skillfully that the master craftsmen could repeat the layout of the smallest details drawn by the artist by hand. We use only hand-drawn designs, in order to get the images to come to life in production and create incredible illusions.

Signature Rug Design
Alexander's Collection famous design for area rug - Lillies of the Valley

What is it about Alexander's Collection rugs that makes them special? Why does the brand stand over the industry and occupies one of the leading spots in the luxury industry?
First of all, it is primarily the design itself, breaking the stereotype concept of a rug, the unique way and know-how of the brand in developing designs and preparing them for production. To get rugs of this level of performance, all designs are drawn only by hand, so that the artist could breathe life into this kind of graphics and could create a highly realistic drawing. Then and only then it is possible to get such a level in production.
Secondly, the geography of consumers whom such designs are made for: from European minimalism to oriental luxury.

And finally, a distinctive quality standard, again a know-how of the brand. As any luxury product, it is first of all the quality of the materials. The best raw materials available on the market today are used: fine New Zealand merino wool, semi-worsted New Zealand wool and fine silk with a special impregnation that protects the raw materials from contamination. As a result, many types of stains may only be removed with warm water.
